Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, is all set to unveil its first elevated forest walkway, a unique project offering stunning views of the Arabian Sea. The 705-meter walkway connects Kamala Nehru Park to Doongerwadi woods, seamlessly integrating with the natural surroundings. With a budget of INR 25 crore, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has nearly completed 90% of the civil work. The remaining tasks, including electrification, painting, and the construction of restrooms and ticket counters, are underway, aiming for completion by year-end.

The walkway inspired by the famous forest walkways in Singapore is quite ambitious. It would connect Kamala Nehru Park to Doongerwadi Woods. BMC has planned this eco-friendly initiative that promises an amazing scenic walking experience.

The forest is created over an elevated walkway on a length of 705 meters situated on Malabar Hill region, Mumbai. This wonderful elevated landscape of the forest provides unbroken views to walkers toward the Arabian Sea. It has designed a very fine wooden structure so as to disturb the natural environment while preserving water flow along hill slopes and wildlife movement to as minimal as possible.

Budget of the Project

It has a budget of INR 25 crore. Though it has faced several challenges, the forest is ready. Nevertheless, almost 90% of civil work has been completed, and other works, including electrification, painting, restrooms, and ticket counters, are going on currently.

The BMC is to complete the walkway by the end of this year, so it will be ready in time for New Year celebrations. This elevated forest walkway will not only offer a refreshing urban escape but also represent a significant step in Mumbai's commitment to sustainable urban development, providing a perfect blend of nature and modernity for its residents.
