Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer travel time to reduce soon, NHAI unveils Rs 200 crore project

NHAI Project Director Ajay Arya announced that the detailed project report (DPR) for the flyover and underpass at the busy intersection will be completed by next month. 
The project aims to decongest the traffic flow and reduce congestion along that road, which most of the times commuters experience. More so, the plans intend to upgrade the Ajmer Road junction, famously known as a bottleneck during peak hours. All this would help in decongesting the flow of vehicles along the busy route.
 

NHAI Project Director Ajay Arya  said, the project is likely to pick up speed soon, as the tenders for the project are going to be issued in January 2025. The new infrastructure would be constructed for about one and a half years; it shall take NHAI joint efforts from all quarters to cling on to that time frame. With efficient tendering and construction processes, the authorities are confident that there would be hardly any hitch in the traffic flow and the project was completed ahead of schedule.

Expected Challenges and Benefits

Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer highway: The commuter traveling for either business or tourism has this major artery of communication. In peak hours, the delay caused due to traffic congestion is 198 minutes. Traveling shall become faster and predictable for thousands of commuters daily with a reduction of such delays caused by the newest flyovers and underpass. Once completed, the project will ease vehicular movement on key sections, particularly on Jaipur's Bhankrota and Kamala Nehru Nagar junctions, which experience a more aggravated congestion.
 

The work on the flyovers at Bhankrota and Kamala Nehru Nagar nearly is complete. Considering the in-progress work at the two flyovers, vehicles moving from Delhi to Bhankrota and then to Ajmer are using the existing flyover. Traffic from Ajmer, Bagru, and Bhankrota going towards Sodalala and Purani Chungi will continue to use their old route until the new flyovers are complete.
 

Major work entails laying a new flyover parallel to a 200-foot culvert parallel to the existing culvert to be constructed between Ajmer, Bagru, and Bhankrota towards Delhi and Sikar. This is expected to reduce the incidence of traffic jams. The traffic along Ajmer-Jaipur and Delhi routes will also be smoother and faster. Reflective of this broader effort towards improving connectivity and making the experience of travel on one of the busiest routes of the region smooth and less time-consuming, these developments are bound to change the Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer route, making it more convenient and efficient for all travelers in terms of easing congestion and improving travel times.
