Who should opt for Noida International Airport or IGI Delhi Airport? How it will cut travel time?

Connectivity between parts of Western UP, Noida, Ghaziabad, and East Delhi, and the Noida Airport, is another problem at present. But that, too, is going to change with the construction of 32-km stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway this time as early as December 2024. For those in Bulandshahr, Hathras, Palwal, and those living in Pari Chowk in Greater Noida, though the Noida airport can turn out to be a better option as compared to IGI Airport in Delhi.

The NHAI has started building this 32-km stretch, connecting Delhi and Haryana to the Noida airport. It is in the final stages of development. "It will be operational in December. This will benefit many cities of Delhi, Haryana, and UP," said a senior official from Noida International Airport Limited.

A total of 30 flights will take off and land at the Noida Airport come March as against the scheduled initial date of April 17," declared Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Arun Vir Singh.

Authorities are planning to connect the two airports, said officials , "The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has prepared a detailed project report of Rs 20,637 crore to develop the 72.44-km Rapid Rail-cum-Metro Project that connects several parts of Delhi with the Noida International Airport. It has received approval from the UP government and a proposal has been put up before the Ministry of Urban Affairs, Government of India, for appraisal.

This Rapid Rail will connect Noida airport and Ghaziabad RRTS, which is further connected to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi on one side and Meerut on the other," Singh had said.

"The Metro will run between Noida and Greater Noida and a Light Rail Transit (LRT) will ply between the upcoming film city in Greater Noida's Sector 21 and the Noida airport," said the CEO.

Earlier this month, As a  reported by the the CEO in Noida Airport will witness the second stage of trials on November 15. In this stage, the daily takeoffs and landings of the 30 Akasa, IndiGo, and flights owned by the Airports Authority of India will continue till December 15.
Singh had said the 30 flights will include three international flights – for Zurich, Singapore and Dubai – and two cargo flights. Twenty-five are domestic flights and will link cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dehradun and others.
Last week, Singh had said that the Director General of Civil Aviation had given the nod for operation of calibration flights after their approvals were obtained.
