The festival's vibrant spirit does more than showcase the city's rich past but also recognizes its growth. At the time of the Grand Inauguration of the Kankaria Carnival 2024, the Chief Minister told the history of Kankaria Lake's transformation from a zoo with a basic structure, previously called Lake Kantha, to a bustling cultural hub. The revitalization of Kankaria Lake, which was initiated by the direction of the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, has turned it into a popular location for cultural events as well as gatherings for the community.
Apart from the Carnival, the Chief Minister announced the construction of 34 important urban projects to the tune of around Rs868 crores. These include the construction of 345 homes in Naroda along with new gyms and gardens and the STP sewerage treatment facility. These initiatives are a reflection of the desire of the government to improve infrastructure and public facilities in line with the overall concept of urban development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
