Ayodhya's Ram Mandir Prepares for Its First Diwali: Aiming for a World Record with 2.8 Million Diyas

The Temple trust wishes Ayodhya to be not just a religious center but an epitome of cleanliness and environmental awareness. To ensure the experience of devotees and visitors is nothing but extraordinary, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has prolonged the viewing hours of the temple for 'Bhavan Darshan' between October 29 and November 1, and it remains open till midnight.

Visitors entering through Gate No. 4B will be able to admire the temple's magnificent decorations. This festival of lights conveys messages of faith, stewardship of the environment, and aesthetic beauty; therefore, Ayodhya's Diwali celebration will become a global event.

The Vice Chancellor of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Professor Pratibha Goyal, has made the biggest team ever for preparing the event. More than 30,000 volunteers, under the supervision of over 2,000 supervisors, coordinators, and ghat in charges, are decorating 55 ghats along the Saryu River with diyas.

The 80,000 diyas forming a Swastik design is being prepared at Ghat Number 10 of Ram Ki Paidi. The event will be the biggest attraction on the celebration day with over 150 volunteers participating.

New World Record to be made on Chhoti Diwali

On 30th October, also referred to as Chhoti Diwali, volunteers from universities and local institutions will come together to break a new world record by lighting 2.8 million diyas in the evening. Organized in 16 x 16 grids with each grid holding 256 diyas, the diyas are placed carefully and lit under the direction of coordinators and ghat in charges.

The consecration of the Idol of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya Temple on January 22 marked a milestone in the history of the temple, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called for the temple to become the foundation of a "strong, capable, and divine India." The preparations and celebrations for Deepotsav are still ongoing, in this vision and capturing millions' hearts and faith with Ayodhya welcoming its first Diwali at the Ram Mandir.
