Ayodhya Surpasses Varanasi as Top Tourist Destination with 11 Crore Visitors

Ayodhya has become a shining star at the top. The temple town received 10.99 crores visitors, which is accompanied with 2,851 foreign tourists. In contrast, the oldest city, Varanasi that holds considerable significance spirituality, received only 4.61 crore tourists as well as 1,33,999 international visitors.However, it is the inauguration of Ram Mandir that has made the city touch new heights of being among the most revered places. As per a recent report by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Ayodhya has surpassed Varanasi to take the top position in the state as a tourist destination.

In fact, Uttar Pradesh witnessed almost 33 crore visitors during the same period, making a remarkable increase in the state's tourism figures. In fact, mainly the opening of the Ram Mandir seems to contribute to this high influx of visitors to Ayodhya, making the city even more holymonger-rich.

.Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, said that 32.98 crore tourists had visited the state from January to June this year. It could be further segregated into 32.87 crore domestic tourists and 10.36 lakh international visitors. The figures reveal a highly immense growth over 19.60 crore tourists for the same period last year that saw an addition of more than 13 crore visitors for this year.

Uttar Pradesh: Rising Global Tourism Push

Uttar Pradesh is gaining significant importance in the global tourist circuit, and so far, Minister Jaiveer Singh gives credits to the development of new tourist attractions and facilities. Infrastructural development and service improvements made the state gain momentum as one of the destinations for countrywide and international tourists
The other top destinations in UP are Prayagraj, Mathura, and Agra, attracting millions of travellers every year.
Domestic footfall increased in Prayagraj by 4,53,94,772 and 3,668 overseas visitors have come so far between the months of January and June 2024. Mathura and agra follows closely with 3,07,02,513 domestic and 49,619 foreign visitors.
The minister further stressed that Uttar Pradesh was coming to the forefront of the globe as a destination of the most significant tourist attractions and properly developed facilities.
